I'm based out of the Twin Cities area of central Minnesota, a short drive from tens of thousands of acres of public hunting land within Minnesota and its neighboring states. My passion is bow hunting whitetails, though chasing spring turkeys and fishing are not far behind. Learning to hunt public land successfully was a long and slow process. I had a few great mentors online who were willing to share their tactics, and I've developed a good system of soaking up any piece of information I can find and determining if or how it could apply to my own style. I created the DIY Sportsman content platform as a way to share what I've learned over the years, do fun projects, and document my filmed hunts. It now feels strange at times walking into the woods without a camera of some kind. There's an incredible amount of reward in being able to dive deep into an area with hundreds of miles of scouting experience and try to figure a deer out. That said, I've also grown to really enjoy the short out-of-state hunts, where timing and the ability to read fresh sign really get put to the test.
